About Venito Garcia O’ohana Ki:
Venito Garciabaḍ was the embodiment of an Oʼodham Library. Like an abundant garden, his oidag was alive with Oʼodham himdag and history, which is why he was known as both a philosopher and historian. He was always eager to share the rich tapestry of O’odham history, culture, rituals, songs, and dances, he possessed when youth, elders, students, and anyone—community members or visitors—crossed his path. Born in Hodai Son Vo (Charco27), he spent his entire life in Hickiwan. Our cherished ba:b played a vital role in the library’s development; he was present at its groundbreaking in 1978 and deeply moved when the library was named in his honor in 1981. We are privileged to uphold his legacy within the library, continuing to support the culture and information needs of our community as he once did.
The Venito Garcia Library (O’ohana Ki:) offers a variety of electronic resources, including books, magazines, and newspapers. Users can access live streaming video* via the internet on computers, laptops, hotspots, or mobile devices.
