Roads Program
Mission
Responsible for developing, obtaining public and leadership approval for, and management of the Nations’ Tribal Transportation Improvement Program (TTIP) to develop new projects or improve Nations’ roadways. The TTIP lists all Nation’s roads projects and bridges in line for planning, design, construction and maintenance & repair through the use of Tribal Share, approximately $3 million dollars received annually, from the Office of Federal Lands Highway. The latest TTIP (2018 – 2022) will soon be finalized and a notice requesting for public comment sent out.
The Roads Program is also working with a consultant to develop a 20-year Transportation Plan for the Nation. This work will take 18 months to complete with the job having started at the beginning of Fiscal Year 18. This work will help us develop roads priorities for the Nation’s TTIP for the next 20-years.
Keeping all who travel Nations’ roads safe is the main goal of the Roads Program. The Program will continue to focus a good portion of its time on safety studies that will help to determine which tribal roads need to considered the priorities for construction and for maintenance & repair.
